Food Bank Outreach

Matthew 25:35-40 (NIV) 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ 40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

In obedience to directive of God, we help provide food to around 130 families each month through our Food Bank Outreach. If you or anyone you know in the area needs help with food please contact us according to following guidelines and we would love to help. We do not ask for income information or eligibility requirements. If you need food, we are her to help in the name of Jesus.

Food Bank Update

The needs of our community have increased recently, and we have found ourselves in a challenging position as we strive to reach and help more families. Space and time limitations have caused us to turn away many families in need. We have been praying and will be making a change to our current distribution program to reach more families each month. Effect immediately, each family / home will be limited to receiving food twice a month separated by at least two weeks (every other week).  We love serving you and your family as well as the other families of our community. I’m certain you understand our new policy.

I would also like to remind everyone that each person involved with our food distribution is a volunteer. Some spend up 30 volunteer hours each week and up to 6 days a week. Therefore, they will be treated with respect and honor. We reserve the right to deny service to anyone that is rude or uncooperative with our volunteers.

Current Policy and Procedure for receiving food from Valley First Assembly of God.

  1. We distribute food on Tuesdays and Fridays.
  2. You must call to get on the list Monday (for Tuesday pick up) OR Thursday (for Friday pick up) beginning at 8:30 AM EST. 706-773-4547
    • Do not attempt to call before 8:30 AM, you will not reach anyone.
    • We fill our foodbank list on a first call received first serve basis.
    • You must call until you speak to someone. You cannot leave a message or send a text message. You must speak to someone or you are NOT on the list.
    • You must call yourself to get on the list. No one can add you to the list other than yourself.
  3. You must be in the car line by 8:50 AM EST on your pickup day. If you are late, you may not receive food.
  4. We use a touchless distribution system. We put the food in your trunk.
    • You must clean out your trunk to allow room for your food which is typically in a few banana boxes. We will only put your boxes in your trunk, we will not place food inside your car.
    • If you carpool and there is not enough room in your truck to place the boxes, you will forfeit whatever will not fit in the truck.
  5. You must put your car in Park when boxes are being loaded in your trunk.
  6. You must pick up your own boxes. You are allowed to carpool and pick up together.
  7. You may not be on your cell phone while moving in line, at checking in points, or at pick up point.
  8. If you do not show up for your pickup time/day, you will be suspended from picking up for a time period. Excessive misses will result in being banned. Boxes are prepared according to reserved spots, when someone does not show up, the food is wasted.

We consider you part of our family and would like to invite you and your family to worship with us on Sunday morning at 11:00 AM EST. Come as you are.

Sincerely,

Pastor John Eldridge, Jr.
